Firefly Productions
We (Maurice & Carrie Barnes - see about us below) officially launched Firefly Productions in May 2014.
Though weddings are a big part of our business, we provide similar services for other life events such as birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, & memorials. In addition, we also provide storyboarding/video/editing services for non-profit, educational, corporate, and theatrical entities, with projects ranging from educational to promotional, along with coverage of various types of events.
We are not just co-owners; we also perform all of the administrative, marketing, planning, videography & editing/production work from start to finish. We have a large dedicated creative space for Firefly on the lower level of our home in Union, KY (25 min south of Cincinnati, OH).
Since mid-2014, we have captured over 250 weddings & other life events. Some of our business clients include CINSAM at Northern Kentucky University (NKU), Main Event Entertainment, IXL Learning, Dehan Education, Marmion Academy, & Center Stage, to name a few.
We work primarily in Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois & West Virginia, offering free travel to these locations. We simply love a good road trip! We are also available for work outside of this region, with travel fees ranging from free to at-cost travel expense for the project.
The name "Firefly" came out of our childhood memories, as the insects would often light up the northern Illinois night skies during the summer. Just as many try to capture a firefly for its unique glow, we wanted to capture the special “light” or "fire" of every person, business, event and/or project. We work with each individual, couple, or organization to make sure that the end result tells your story! Contact us to see how we can help you on your next event or project!
Pandemic Update: We both had C19 very early on & have been vaccinated. We follow all federal, state, local & business guidelines, as well as any guidelines put in place by the people we work with.

Maurice & Carrie
Hello! We’re Maurice & Carrie Barnes, co-owners of Firefly Productions LLC, and now officially (as of Nov. 2020) a husband/wife videography/production team.
We met in Batavia, IL in October 1995 while working for the same movie theater company. We only worked & lived in the same city for 4-1/2 months, but in the months & years following we developed a very strong, lasting friendship that is now over 25 years old!
In 2013 we found ourselves unexpectedly in the same city once again, this time in Cincinnati, OH. Both of us had some experience with video/production at this point, and after a lot of discussions we decided it was something we felt very passionately about doing on a full time, permanent basis. Telling other people’s stories, or capturing a story in the making, is something we find incredibly fulfilling! So, we started Firefly.
When we’re not working, we love a good trip, even if it’s just for a day. We love history and make it a point to visit historical sites at least once a month. We take a lot of back roads, and thoroughly enjoy checking out the mid-size and small towns, whether its walking the streets, talking to the locals, visiting the shops, or eating at the hidden gems that are often found in these special places!
Little fun facts about us:
Maurice has written a script for a 10-episode animated series that pays homage to Flash Gordon, and for the last few years has been doing all of the animation (and most of the voices) for it. It’s really coming together! Maurice & his older brother Michael were creating stories and making movies on their Auntie’s Super 8 film camera when they were children, so he has storytelling in his soul! As for Carrie, she is the sole creator & author for a Civil War website & blog that largely focuses on people. It may sound unusual, but her first childhood memory is visiting Abraham Lincoln’s home & tomb when she was 2 years & 10 months old. This simple act sparked a life-long obsession with the early history of the United States (1700-1880), with a special focus on the Civil War era. She credits her parents & maternal grandma for helping her get access to every history-themed book she could get her hands on as a kid!
